The Technology Support Center’s Demo Area is uniquely designed to showcase the latest computers, laptops, and tablets from some of the top brands including Apple, Dell, HP and Microsoft in order to give students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to try out a new device before buying it. Each device is pre-loaded with many of the common software applications used at Tech, and the devices comply with Tech’s equipment requirements listed in the Student Computer Ownership Guide (SCO Guide) at www.sco.gatech.edu. Dell was founded on 1984 by Michael Dell in Austin, Texas. Dell is currently the #1 shipper of PC monitors in the world. They are also selling personal computers, servers, data storage devices, network switches, computer peripherals, HDTVs, cameras, printers, and electronics built by other manufacturers. Dell acquired Alienware, a manufacturer of high-end PCs targeted mainly towards the gaming market.
Hewlett-Packard was founded on 1939 by Bill Hewlett and David Packard in Palo Alto, California. Hewlett-Packard has been the world's leading PC manufacturer specializing in personal computing devices, enterprise and industry standard servers, storages, networking products, printers and related supplies. Their product line includes the HP Pro, HP Z1 G2 Workstations, HP EliteBooks and Pro Tablets.
Microsoft was founded on April 4, 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Microsoft develops, manufactures, licenses, supports and sells softwares (Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer), consumer electronics, personal computers and related services. Their flagship hardwares are the Xbox video game consoles and the Microsoft Surface lineup.
