Demo Area

The Technology Support Center’s Demo Area is uniquely designed to showcase the latest computers, laptops, and tablets from some of the top brands including Apple, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, and Samsung in order to give students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to try out a new device before buying it. Each device is pre-loaded with many of the common software applications used at Tech, and the devices comply with Tech’s equipment requirements listed in the Student Computer Ownership Guide (SCO Guide) at www.sco.gatech.edu. Apple

Established in Cupertino, California on April 1, 1976 and incorporated January 3, 1977, Apple is the world's second-largest information technology company by revenue. With industry changing technologies such as the iPod, iPad, iPhone, the Macbook and the iMac, Apple has consistently been a leading innovator for technology.

Dell

Dell was founded in 1984 by Michael Dell in Austin, Texas. Dell is currently the #1 shipper of PC monitors in the world and is the sixth largest company in Texas by total revenue, according to Fortune magazine. Dell continues to bring innovative technologies in to the market with products such as the Ultrabook, Venue and XPS Touch.

Hewlett Packard

Hewlett-Packard was founded in 1939 in Palo Alto, California. Since 2007, HP has been the world's leading PC manufacturer specializing in personal computing devices. Their product line includes the HP Pro, HP Z1 G2 Workstations, HP EliteBooks and Pro Tablets.

Lenovo

"Lenovo" is a portmanteau of "Le-" (from Legend) and "novo", ablative for "new". Founded in 1984, Lenovo started with a small group of engineers and in the span of 30 years became one of the most trusted PCs in the industry. In 2005, Lenovo acquired IBM's personal computer business and since then has taken the market by storm with the Lenovo Yoga, the X1 Carbon Touch, the IdeaPad and the All-in-one Horizon.

Samsung

Samsung was founded in 1938 as a textile trading company. It was in the late 1960s when Samsung entered the electronics industry producing black and white televisions. In the 1980s, Samsung began to invest heavily in to telephone and fax technology and from there was able to expand in to the mobile phone and personal hand-held device market. With the Galaxy Note, Samsung has come a long way from the textile trading company it started as.

Microsoft

Microsoft was founded on April 4, 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Microsoft started out as a company that that developed, manufactured, licensed, supports and sells computer software such as MS-DOS, Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Packages and gaming software such as Microsoft Flight Simulator. However with the introduction of the X-Box and other personal handheld devices, Microsoft is flexing its muscle in the hardware industry as well with the Surface Pro 3.
